Mmmm, the house filled with the smell of yummy pork products.
It was decided that a trip to Padstow was the order of the day, and so everyone milled about getting ready. Since things take twice as long when there are so many people, The Boy spent the waiting time in the fab games room. It had a pool table, a dartboard, ping pong supplies, a tv and comfortable chairs for spectators.
Here's The Boy trying to get a bullseye.
Mum spent a little time in the very big garden.
Here's the lovely bench at the bottom of the garden.
And the view from the bench.
Once everyone was ready, they all walked down to the shore to catch the foot ferry which would take them over the Camel Estuary to Padstow.
Auntie A was a bit worried what Baby Gwen would think of the boat, but she didn't seem to mind it one bit!
Padstow was busy, but sunny and as lovely as they remembered. They had a nice walk round together and then split up to do their own various things. Mum, Dad and The Boy decided that a proper Cornish pasty would be just the ticket. So Dad bought three and they sat on a bench on the harbour to eat them.
They had a lovely time sitting on the harbourside, munching on pasties and watching the world go by.
The Boy enjoyed his proper Cornish pasty.
Mum loves the buildings around the harbour.
Mum and Dad decided they wouldn't mind a look around some of the art galleries. (Well, OK, maybe that was just Mum.) So they bought The Boy a brand new crabbing line and an extra large crabbing bucket and he was very happy to stand and fish for crabs for a bit. He was allowed to take his shoes off and go down the ramp to stand in the water and cool his feet as long as he didn't get his shorts wet.
Here's The Boy looking all clean and dry. But he was soaking wet by the time Mum and Dad had come out of the art gallery! He had, apparently, "slipped on some seaweed". HMMMMMM....
Fortunately, it was such a beautifully warm day that his clothes didn't stay very wet for long. Mum and Dad are quite used to The Boy's mishaps and so it wasn't made into a big deal at all. These things happen.....they just seem to happen to The Boy an awful lot!
The Boy's crabbing success! Mum wanted to be brave enough to hold a crab like that but she was far too scared.
Once everyone had met up again, it was time to take the ferry back over to Rock to buy ice creams. Poor Mum was overcharged, but the Kelly's ice cream there is very, very tasty. Mum made use of her lactose tablets again and thoroughly enjoyed her treat. Yumyumyum. The ice creams were greedily scoffed as The Big Family all made their way back to Tamarisk to start preparations for a nice barbeque.
Mum, Dad and Auntie A all went for a drive in the car to Tesco to buy charcoal, lighters and a few bits and bobs. Even though they didn't take very long, The Big Family ended up eating rather late, as the barbecue proved to be a tricky one. Still, the meal was lovely and it was so, so nice to all sit together outside in the warm evening air, eating and drinking after a great day out at Padstow.
