Betws y Coed

The Boy was still at his friend's house so Mum and Dad decided to go out and enjoy the glorious sunshine.  They weren't too sure where to go at first, but Dad suggested a stroll around the village of Betws y Coed since neither had explored the area before.

They parked in the expensive, empty car park, donned their walking boots and set off for the high street.  There were various shops to wander round and a really nice art gallery which Mum enjoyed immensely, especially since it had a lovely painting of her house on the banks of Llyn Crafnant.

There's a fantastic food shop there too, selling lots of weird and wonderful items.  Dad spent at least five minutes browsing the sauces and Mum bought some whole cardamom because she thought it was cheaper than the supermarket prices.

Here's Kazie the Gorilla, sitting in the sun outside the train station.

A lovely lunch of sandwiches, hula hoops and jaffa cakes was had on a bench in the sunny park.  Mum was wearing clothes, honestly!

After lunch, and a nice chat with an old man from the top of Conwy valley, a visit was made to the tourist information office.  There are quite a few nice-looking walks in the area but the one alongside the river looked the best.  Finding the start of it was a bit tricky, but they were glad they asked for directions.

Aquilegia growing wild in the woods.  Very pretty =D

A brilliant spot by the two rivers that join together.  There was a bench right on the bank and plenty of shallow water and rocks for The Boy to play amongst so the decision was made to remember this place in the future.

The walk wasn't too long and went around the outskirts of the golf course.  But it was very pleasant and so nice to be beside the river.

On the way home, they popped into Bodnant Garden because Mum and Dad are proud owners of a  National Trust ticket and can just pop in and out quickly.  The laburnum was a little more in bloom this time =)  A fab day in some fab weather!
